Thanks a lot for writing this Naina. I lost my father when I was 24, I heard you loudly through every word you have written here!

This is a much needed conversation. Am so glad to read your post. Maybe people will learn to support grief better as more and more of us write about it. Sending love and strength your way ❤️

Thank you Binu 🩵 I hope so too…that accounts of grievers will sensitise the reader to our kinds of experiences.

Naina, I could resonate with every little guidepost you have laid out for grief. The biggest takeaway for me was (to borrow Natasha's words) "radically accept" your own discomfort around how you might offer support and move past it to reach out to your closed ones in times of grief. Looking forward to the next parts.

Naina you have written this with so much courage and clarity. A much needed guide. I related with so many parts. I remember longing to talk about my mom, the memories, anecdotes, her traits with people who knew her closely but there was deafening silence. I reconciled by telling myself it must be their discomfort that held them from reaching out but who knows😌Thanks for writing this piece.

Thank you, Shalini. I have similar longings as you. I have started experimenting with being the ‘unruly one’ in my family now, by asking about my mom’s stories even if at first it creates tense moments. I don’t like having to teach them this way, but I decided I want the end result more, which is more stories of her, people talking about her.

Sending you lots of love, cat and dog memes and goofy conversations. I did not google this, but my tool of choice to offer anyone (and myself) in grief is either offering food or my poor jokes. Often both. Thank you for writing this.

Food and jokes are much needed! Also clearly you don’t need inferior stuff like google and all, Google needs you! 😄
